Add-Ons: How to test for problems

Microsoft Edge:

The Edge browser currently does not support add-ons or extensions, so there is no need to manage/disable add-ons at this time.

 

Internet Explorer:

  1. Copy/Paste this guide into notepad or Microsoft Word.
  2. Close all open Internet Explorer windows.
  3. Navigate to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Internet Explorer (No Add-ons).
  4. The browser window will appear with the message “Internet Explorer is currently running without add-ons”.
  5. Go to our website and test whether the problem is still occurring.
    a. If the problem no longer occurs, follow these steps to manually disable any offending Add-On.
    b. If the problem is still occurring, reset Internet Explorer or try another browser. (Firefox or Chrome)
    c. When you are finished testing close all open Internet Explorer windows to exit “No Add-ons” mode.

 

Firefox:

  1. Copy/Paste this guide into notepad or Microsoft Word.
  2. Press Alt + H on the keyboard to open the Help menu, and click Restart with Add-ons Disabled…
  3. Click Restart when the confirmation box appears, and select Start in Safe Mode once the Firefox Safe Mode windows appears. This will launch Firefox in a no add-on mode.
  4. Go to our website and test whether the problem is still occurring.
    a. If the problem no longer occurs, follow these steps to manually disable any offending Add-On.
    b. If the problem is still occurring, reset Firefox or try another browser. (Internet Explorer or Chrome)
    c. When you are finished testing close all open Firefox windows to exit “Safe mode”.

 

Safari (Mac):

  1. Copy/Paste this guide into a text editor or Pages.
  2. With Safari as the active window, click Safari in the menu bar and click Preferences…
  3. Select the Extensions tab.
  4. To the right of the “Extensions are created by third-party developers…” sentence is an OFF/ON switch. Select OFF to disable all extensions.
  5. Close the Preferences window.
  6. Navigate to our website and test whether the problem is still occurring.
    a. If the problem no longer occurs, follow these steps to manually disable any offending Add-On.
    b. If the problem is still occurring, reset Safari or try another browser. (Firefox or Chrome)
    c. When you are finished testing follow steps 1-3 to get to the extension manager again and click the switch to ON to enable all extensions.
